Description

Barney is the cuddliest oversized “lapdog” you’ll ever meet — except nobody told him he isn’t tiny. This big-hearted boy truly believes he fits perfectly in your lap, and honestly… once he melts into you, you won’t have the heart to tell him otherwise.

Before we found him, Barney was likely kept outdoors, possibly in a garden. His foster family says that when he first arrived, indoor life was completely new to him. Everyday household wonders like the washing machine left him staring in fascinated awe, and he could happily sit and watch the TV as if trying to figure out the plot. It was equal parts adorable and heartbreaking.

Thankfully, Barney adjusted to the good life at lightning speed. He is now absolutely amazing in the house — perfectly clean, and he’ll let you know if he needs to go outside beyond his usual toilet routine. He sleeps peacefully through the night and waits patiently in the morning… until he hears his foster parents stir. That’s his cue to hop into bed for his official Morning Cuddle Session™. According to his foster mum, it’s the single best way to start your day and a 10/10 therapeutic experience.

Barney is incredibly affectionate and thrives on physical contact. His signature move? Resting his head gently on your chest, leaning into you… and then slowly melting his entire body onto you for as long as you’re willing to pet him. The more cuddles, the better.

Like any young pup, Barney loves to chew and is still figuring out the difference between “dog toy” and “your favorite shoe” — so a bit of guidance (and sensible shoe storage!) is recommended. After a good long walk or a proper play session, though, he settles beautifully and is perfectly fine being left alone for a while.

He’s good on the leash, travels well in the car, and is very food-motivated, which makes him eager to learn. And when it comes to other dogs? He’s AMAZING. Barney loves absolutely everyone and all he wants is to play. He can be a little enthusiastic and pushy in his joyful puppy antics, but if another dog tells him they’ve had enough, he listens and backs off. When he meets a dog who greets him with not-so-friendly barking, Barney just squeak a bit and keeps wagging his tail softly, completely perplexed as to why anyone wouldn’t want to be his friend.

He also adores interacting with other animals — though he genuinely cannot understand why chickens or sheep wouldn’t want to join his very fun chasing game. That part is still a work in progress (especially for the sake of the poor farm animals!).

Barney is young, smart, and full of joyful energy. He’ll need an active home that can give him plenty of physical exercise, mental stimulation, playtime, and — most importantly — love. What he doesn’t deserve is to be a garden ornament again, only paid attention to when it’s convenient.

Barney deserves the world. And in return, he’ll give you his whole heart (and probably his whole body, directly on top of you).
