Farmica was born out of a genuine love for animals

 — not as a grand project, but as a quiet act of resistance against injustice.

We are a non-profit association dedicated to animal protection, preventing abuse, promoting neutering, providing veterinary care, and facilitating adoption for cats and dogs. Since 2018, we have operated as an association and have been officially registered as a shelter since 2019.

We started as a grassroots initiative, with no infrastructure, no funding, but with hearts full of compassion. We filled our own homes with abandoned dogs and cats. We personally paid for temporary shelter and built improvised kennels on a small piece of land kindly offered to us by a local woman. There was no electricity, no running water — but there was a clear mission: to help those who cannot help themselves.

When we were forced to leave that land, we stood before a choice — give up, or move forward with courage.
We chose to fight.

Our shelter is unique in caring not only for 137 dogs but also for rescued farm animals — including donkeys, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, and ducks — often from natural disasters or inhumane living conditions. To sustain our work, we rely on fundraising to cover food, utilities, infrastructure, and educational activities, while cultivating our fields to provide food and bedding for the farm animals. We have several ongoing projects and future plans to improve the animals’ living conditions, including building a second yard with agility and enrichment options for our dogs, and extending and improving accommodations for volunteers, along with many other initiatives to support animal welfare.
